What the Nissan did, it did well, but a towing limit of 1350kg is measly for such a heavy car. If your van falls within that figure, the Qashqai +2 is a good choice. It rides comfortably, yet keeps the van under control. It coped easily with both the lane-change manoeuvre and the hill start. The 1-in-6 slope was no problem, whether four-wheel drive was selected or not.
Inside, the Qashqai +2 is usefully bigger than the Qashqai, on which it is based. As the name suggests, an extra pair of seats can quickly be stowed in the floor. With these put away, there was room for a full load of luggage. Our practicality testers were unimpressed with the towing information in the handbook, however.
At £25,900, it isn’t cheap, but pretty much any gadget you can think of is fitted as standard.
